No stranger to the Wanderland scene is Aussie indie-alt rock band and Wanderland 2013 headliner, THE TEMPER TRAP. This multi-award winning band’s electric stage presence have landed them spots at numerous music festivals including Bonnaroo, Glastonbury and Coachella. Most known for the hauntingly beautiful “Sweet Disposition,” the band is set to leave Wanderers in awe whilst singing along to every hook.
Formed back in 2007, English Indie pop/rock duo, THE TINGS TINGS have since released 3 full-length albums — once topping the UK Singles Chart with their hit “That’s Not My Name.” Also famous for their hits “Shut Up and Let Me Go” and “Wrong Club,” the duo is set to bring Wanderers to their feet with their energetic and dance-punk sound.
Four-piece American post-rock group, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, consists of members Mark, Michael, Munaf, and Chris. Formed in 1999, they have since released 6 studio albums, ``The Wilderness” arguably being the band’s redefining album. Their vibrant and electrifying instrumentals have also gained them features on a handful of television programs, commercials, and movie soundtracks.
Malaysian singer-songwriter, YUNA, is set to make her Manila debut at Wanderland Jungle. Heavily influenced by folk, jazz and pop, it’s no wonder Yuna’s cutting edge grooves and sultry vocals blend smoothly into her own unique sound. Her third international studio album, Chapters, features emotional and surprising duets with renowned music icons Usher and Jhené Aiko.
Hailing from Montreal, Canada is future pop music duo, PURITY RING. In 2015, the band, comprised by hometown friends Corin and Megan, released their sophomore album, “Another Eternity.” Their infectious vocals and ethereal synth sounds have landed them spots at festivals including Sound on Sound festival and Coachella.
Home-grown Filipino alt/indie pop band, UP DHARMA DOWN, will also be playing at the festival for the second time around. Once featured in Time magazine, the multi-award winning band will definitely be tugging on every Wanderer’s heartstrings as they sing their hits “Tadhana,” “Indak”, and more.
With their warm electronic soulful tunes, British duo, HONNE, is set to keep Wanderers warm on a cold night at Wanderland Jungle. Made up of long-term friends, Andy and James, their layered synth tunes create an intimate atmosphere that will leave Wanderers swaying to their groove infused and jazz-like melodies.
Formed in 2014, Los Angeles-based three-piece indie pop band, LANY (pronounced Lay-nee) has released a number of EP’s, which house their hits “ILYSB”, “Pink Skies”, and more. The trio’s infectious tunes have landed them spots at festivals including Bonnaroo, Firefly, and Outside Lands.
Coming in from down under are Melbourne-based acoustic folk band, WOODLOCK. The trio is made up of musicians Zach, Eze, and Bowen. From busking the city streets to selling over 25,000 EPs, Woodlock’s recently-released album “Sirens” will surely leave Wanderers singing along song after song.
Wanderland will be welcoming GAB AND JOHN of the legendary Filipino rock band URBANDUB. Although Urbandub have gone their separate ways, Gab and John still play acoustic sets around the Metro so we can only imagine the musical goodness in store for Wanderers come March 4.
Homegrown instrumental rock trio, TOM’S STORY, is comprised by good friends Gabba, Tom, and Christer. The band’s dynamically charged sounds earned them a gig in San Francisco, CA along with other Bay Area bands. Their groovy and melodic beats will leave Wanderers dancing under the sun.
Wanderband 2015 alumna, Fools and Foes, are set to take on Wanderland Jungle. Made up of friends – Isabelle, Miguel, Gabba, and Ralph, this homegrown indie band once played at the Fete dela Musique festival held in Manila. Known for their hits “Blindfolded” and “Undesired,” the band will surely leave Wanderers singing along to every word.
Garnering internet fame in her early years, singer/songwriter REESE LANSANGAN has become one to watch and is now set to color Wanderland Jungle with her alternative rock sound. Reese recently released her first full length album “Arigato, Internet” which houses her most requested song “Exploration No. 5.”
Reigning mighty at this year’s Jungle Battle is homegrown indie rock band, Wanderband 2017, LOLA AMOUR. Made up of high school friends Pio, Seok Jin, Raymond, Zoe, Mico, Angelo, Joxx, and Renzo – their spirited sets and catchy hooks will give Wanderers a performance like there’s “No Tomorrow.”
Wanderband 2017 finalist, Banna Harbera, are set to show us homegrown talent is a force to be reckoned with as they fill Wanderland Jungle with their alternative sound. The band have released two EPs since forming back in 2013, “Something New EP,” and “Persistence EP.” Wanderers are in for a nostalgic treat with the bands laid-back but soulful sounds.
All the way from the land down under to bring their lively beats to Wanderland Jungle is Wanderband 2017 finalist, MICKEY SULIT. The indie-pop jazz band is set to take Wanderers on a “Holiday” with their groovy and rhythmic sound.
